Antibiotics Effect on Bacteria Our Body and Immune System

Have you ever seen people fond of suggesting medicines to a friend and also taking medicines in each and every minor problem. If their body temperature goes above 36.5 C, they will immediately take Paracetamol tablet and may also take an antibiotic. And Now! No need to see a doctor! Hurray!

  • If you take antibiotic when you don’t need it, then it will not work when you need it. Its because body will develop its resistance power against that antibiotic.

CrockPot Potato Leek Soup Recipe


Day 290.

Wow, the year is flying by. I meant to make potato leek soup eons ago, and never got around to it. My mom made some on the stove top over the weekend and brought over a container, and it egged me on to recreate it in the crockpot.

It was terribly easy. Especially because Adam was home for the day (I was on call for jury duty. I didnt have to go in, phew.) and did all of the chopping while I answered email.

I didnt add any heavy cream. You can, but I was pleased with the flavor and creaminess without a drop of cream.

The Ingredients.

--3 large leeks, cleaned and diced (you only use the white part)
--1 medium yellow onion, chopped
--1 pound brown potatoes (weigh them---youll only need 2 or 3)
--5 cups broth (chicken or vegetable)
--1/2 tsp thyme
--1/4 tsp black pepper
--2 cloves chopped garlic

--1 cup heavy cream (optional)

The Directions.

Have your husband do all the work.

He used the 6.5 quart eLume---peel the potatoes and chop everything up and toss it in with the broth and the spices.

If you are going to use heavy cream, you dont add that until cooking is complete.

Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours, or on high for about 4.

When the potatoes and onion are fully cooked and soft, use an immersible blender to soupify.
If you dont have an immersible blender, blend in small batches CAREFULLY in your traditional blender.

Stir in heavy cream, if desired.

The Verdict.

This is a light, creamy soup that is perfect for a starter course, or for sipping out of a mug on the couch. Im going to have it for lunch this week.

Adam packed some to take for lunch at work. The kids didnt try it, and thought it smelled gross. It does have an earthy smell while it cooks. I opened a window and turned on a fan.

Easy Peanut Butter Chicken Slow Cooker Recipe



The kids and I have been on a peanut butter kick lately. We seem to go through a jar a week---I smear it on rice cakes (we like the apple ones) and sprinkle on dried cranberries for breakfast, and mix it with honey and dip in green apples for an after-school snack. Ill even sneak a spoonful right out of the jar when no ones looking.

The baby still cant have peanut butter, so she stuck to quinoa  while the rest of us scarfed down this chicken (p.s. QUINOA MAKES A BIG MESS under the high chair).

I used chicken quarters for this recipe because I bought a bunch on sale, but if I was to purchase chicken specifically for this dish, Id opt for boneless, skinless thighs.

The Ingredients.
serves 4



1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken, cut in chunks *
1/2 cup natural peanut butter (creamy or chunky, your choice)
1 red bell pepper, seeded and sliced
1 large onion, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 lime, juiced
1/4 cup soy sauce (use gluten free--La Choy or Tamari wheat-free)
1/2 cup chicken broth

* If you are going to use quarters, or meat with bones, be aware that the meat will probably fall off the bone, and youll need to fish out the bone pieces before serving. Ive used this sauce with a whole chicken (I doubled the sauce ingredients for a 4.5-pound bird) and it was fantastic, but the bones were a bit of an issue.

The Directions.

Use a 4-quart slow cooker. Put the chicken into the bottom of your pot and add the peanut butter. Toss in the vegetables and cumin. Squeeze in lime, and add soy sauce and chicken broth. Stir as well as you can to combine (the peanut butter will be clumpy, and thats just fine). Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for about 4 hours. Serve over rice or quinoa.

The Verdict.

Adam and I both think this sauce tastes like the Thai Peanut Butter chicken we order from our local Thai restaurant. Its delicious---and the whole pot costs less than 1 serving does at the restaurant! If youre not serving children and would like a bit of a kick, you can add red pepper flakes either while cooking (start with 1/2 tsp) or at the table to taste. If youd like, you can squeeze on some extra lime juice at the table.
 My kids love this meal, and eat much more than they usually do for dinner when I serve it.
